Time to bake some cookies! Click on the cookie on the left side of the screen to make a tasty treat. You can use these cookies to unlock buildings on the right side of the screen. Buildings will automatically produce cookies for you every second. The more buildings you unlock, the more product you'll make in Cookie Clicker! Buildings that are more difficult to upgrade will produce more cookies for you, so use your cookies efficiently!

You can also earn upgrades with your cookies. Find them above the buildings you. These upgrades can increase your cookie multiplier, cookies baked per second, and more!

Keep an eye on your screen for golden cookies! When you click on one, you can collect a lot of cookies or speed up cookie production for a limited amount of time.

Once you have baked over a billion cookies, you'll unlock sugar lumps. These lumps will harvest automatically, but you can harvest them early by clicking on the sugar lump icon under the Stats button. Use your sugar lumps to upgrade your buildings by clicking the level up button under each building. Certain building upgrades will unlock special minigames for you to play!

As your cookies gain more recognition, you may find some odd things begin to occur. Some upgrades will have strange powers and perhaps you'll be known not just throughout the world, but the entire galaxy!

To increase your Cookie Clicker production even further, you will see a blue bar underneath the Legacy button start to fill. You'll also notice the bar will fill faster as you bake more and more cookies. If you feel like your production increases have stagnated, take a look at the Legacy meter, and if you see a number next to the bar, you will be able to ascend and unlock a whole new set of cookie-rific abilities!

When you ascend, you'll lose all of the cookies you've baked in Cookie Clicker, all of your buildings, and all of your upgrades, but you will receive a special currency called heavenly chips, which unlocks special abilities when you ascend, and prestige, which will increase the rate at which you earn cookies forever (even after you ascend). It might be painful to throw away all of those tasty cookies, but we promise you'll be back to where you left off in no time!

Cookie Clicker Strategies

Cookie Clicker may seem like a wacky and overall very unserious game, but there is a lot that goes into it. If you go in with a well-thought-out strategy, you’ll see your cookies piling up faster than you can count!

Start off quickly

As you continue to play Cookie Clicker, the actual clicking portion will get less and less important. However, at the very beginning of the game, clicking is the fastest way to earn cookies and progress through the game. This means that you should take the clicking seriously, go as fast as you possibly can in the first few minutes. The more you click, the faster you’ll get to the more automated processes.

Upgrade fast and often

A lot of people’s natural inclination is to hoard their points to wait for a really big upgrade. However, it will generally be faster for you to make small upgrades over time until it is very feasible for you to get the bigger upgrade. A good rule of thumb is that if you have to save up for more than five minutes, you probably should go for something a bit smaller.

Use all your coins before logging off

One convenient aspect of Cookie Clicker is that your automated cookie-baking processes don’t just shut off once you have logged off. The cookie grandmas, farms, and gardens continue churning out these sugary sweets even when you’re gone.

You can take proper advantage of this by putting all of your remaining cookies into automated processes right before you log off. This will ensure that you can attain maximum cookie output, even when you’re away!
